An emphatic, drawn-out "yes" — celebration, agreement, or hype. Sometimes "yassify" (verb): make something more extra. Originated in 1990s Black and Latino ballroom culture; mainstreamed via Lady Gaga-era pop and now used in every group chat on Earth.
Lengthened "yes" used to signal real enthusiasm rather than mere confirmation. The trailing S's scale with excitement — "yess", "yesss", "yessss". Used to celebrate someone else's good news ("yess girl"), to acknowledge a correct guess ("yesss exactly"), or to hype up a moment in a sports stream ("yess he scored!").
