"Good game." Typed in chat at the end of a match — politely, or sarcastically after a blowout. "GG EZ" = good game, easy (an all-time taunt).
GG coded describes someone who is wired for good sportsmanship as a default setting — they shake hands, acknowledge the other side, take losses without drama, and never make winning embarrassing for the person they beat. GG coded people are the ones who say 'well played' and actually mean it, who don't trash talk when they're up, and who pull the lobby back from the edge when someone starts flaming. They're not trying to be virtuous; it's just how they're built. The gaming community has enormous respect for GG coded players because they're rare.
An unspoken GG is the silent mutual acknowledgment between players that a match was genuinely good, fair, and hard-fought — even when nobody actually types it. Sometimes the scoreboard says everything. Sometimes both sides are so respected that the gesture feels redundant. The unspoken GG exists in the pause before everyone queues up again, in the lack of flaming, in the absence of excuses.
