(India) A light breakfast.
(India) A person of mixed race; half-caste.
Anglo-Indian slang for a small measure of whisky — literally a 'small peg', where 'peg' is the colonial Indian-English word for a drink of spirits. In contrast to a 'burra peg' (large measure), a chota peg was the polite or restrained option at the club bar, typically about one unit of whisky. The term is deeply embedded in the vocabulary of the British Raj and its aftermath, still used with knowing irony or genuine affection in India, Pakistan, and among fans of colonial-era literature.
(India, historical, slang, by extension) A child.
