Definitions
Best friend forever. The standard shorthand for one's closest friend — singular, ride-or-die, the first person you call. Originated in 1990s schoolgirl culture (and friendship-bracelet keychains) and is now universal across age groups, often used unironically by adults and with a wink by everyone else. Sometimes pluralised as "BFFs".

Unspoken bffr is the mutual agreement between two people that they both know the truth about a situation even though neither has said it out loud. There's no need for a full be-for-real moment because the honesty already exists in the room — in a look, a pause, a very loaded 'anyway.' It's the shared acknowledgment of reality without the social cost of verbalizing it. Best friends operating on unspoken bffr can communicate entire conversations through five-second eye contact.
