Informal North American slang for a person who vomits, or someone with a weak stomach prone to getting sick. Used both literally — a kid on a theme park ride — and figuratively to describe someone who is squeamish or easily disgusted. The tone is typically light and slightly contemptuous rather than sympathetic. It can also describe something (a place, smell, food) that makes you want to vomit, used as a noun modifier: 'that barfer of a sandwich'. Common in casual youth speech and informal American English.
